Nutrilak Plus # 1 Acidophilus Probiotic is the newest biological product for the overall improvement of your horses health, using a balanced nutritional approach for a long and healthy life.  

New soluble Equine Nutrilak-Plus Probiotic direct-fed microbial feed and/or drinking water additive, containing lactic beneficial live Lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidobacterium organisms, MOS (mannan oligosaccharides) glucomannans and FOS (fructose oligosaccharides) combined with nutritious palatable fermentation solubles.

Indications: Loss of appetite, diarrhea, constipation and after antibiotic treatment for the re-establishment of the horse natural microflora in the digestive system.   

Lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidobacterium. It is now well documented that many lactic bacteria species are essential or desirable for good health. In brief, they have the following actions:

 

Inhibit the growth of pathogenic and  putrefactive bacteria and yeast. Accelerate bowel movements and promote regularity. Help alleviate lactose intolerance. Make food more digestible. Prevent constipation, diarrhea and digestive disorders. Stimulate the immune system.

APPLICATIONS: Intended for all situations where there is a need to restore, stabilize and maintain optimal level of the gastro intestinal micro flora of equines. Example: After antibiotic treatment, stress conditions etc. Safe for weaned foals and pre-weaned foal's for maintaining proper digestive balance. 

Using treatment level doses of a broad spectrum antibiotic destroys most-if not all-of the bacteria in the intestinal tract, including lactobacilli. Since most bacteria are beneficial or neutral and since bacteria make up a high percentage of most gut contents, such dosages leave an unbalanced gut condition as a side effect.

Using Nutrilak Plus soon after such antibiotic treatment can counter this side effect. As lactobacilli establish in the treated gut, the weakened animal benefits quickly from the restorative effects of this organism. In addition, introducing lactobacilli to the bacteria-free gut of a treated animal is similar to the inoculating effect of introducing lactobacilli to newborns. If lactobacilli are the first organisms to re-enter the treated gut, they can reduce the pathogenic effects of re-entering harmful bacteria.

Nutrilak Plus is a concentrated source of unusually viable lactobacilli. Using it after therapeutic antibiotic dosages can restore and then protect the natural gut ecology of the treated animal.

Probiotics include those fermentation related factors such as naturally occurring live organisms Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium. 

They are found to be beneficial to the digestive tract because they produce digestive enzymes to help break down proteins, starches, fiber, fats and sugars. They also produce B-vitamins and growth inhibitors against pathogenic microbes and fungi. Carriers consist of nutrient dense fermentation solubles.

Like the antimicrobial compounds and lactic acid, hydrogen peroxide is a metabolic by-product of lactobacilli. Also like them, it works within the gut to control the growth of harmful bacteria.

One study of lactobacilli cultures revealed that the growth of Pseudomonas, Bacillus and Proteus bacteria declined as the lactobacilli's production of hydrogen peroxide increased. Another study concluded that lactobacilli can be beneficial in food products because of their ability to produce hydrogen peroxide. This study indicated that it was the hydrogen peroxide produced by the lactobacilli that enabled them to suppress the growth of S. aureus, E. coli, C. botulinum and other undesirable organism s.

Many researchers are simply not certain of the precise bacteriostatic roles played by antimicrobials, lactic acid and hydrogen peroxide. What is certain is that substances produced by Lactobacillus acidophilus do help establish a normal gut microflora. They do so by inhibiting the growth of disease-causing organisms within intestinal tracts.

Nutrilak Plus Other Nutrients: Lactase, acidolin, lactic acid and hydrogen peroxide are the most significant by-products of Lactobacillus acidophilus metabolism. But it is an interesting sidelight on the ancient, mutualistic relationship between this organism and animals that several other beneficial by-products are also produced. Among them are thiamine, riboflavin, pyridoxin e, niacin, biotin, choline, Vitamin B-12 and pantothenic, lipoic and folic acid.

This Formula was developed to assist horses that have a tendency to manifest recurrent ill symptoms, and where primary causes seem to be hard to find on a point of view of orthodox medicine! Chronic digestive disorders, intermittent respiratory problems (colic, influenza,  nose bleeding), and a variety of skin ailments, even intestinal problems, are often related to certain food intolerance.

Vitamin B-complex including B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, CHOLINE BIOTIN, Folic acid and Inositol are actually co-enzymes involved with energy production. They help to maintain healthy nerves, skin, hair, liver and eyes.

Ingredients: Generally regarded as safe (GRAS), comply to the American Association of Feed Control Officials, Inc. (AAFCO - 2003 official publication) meeting all the ingredient requirements as outlined in their current publication. 

The container should be kept closed when not in use and prevent contamination. 

Exposure to high temperature is not recommended.

                      General Use Rates

Foals: Daily with 1st meal of each day / 1st 15 days

Older Horses: 2 to 3 times per week

Stress Conditions: With each meal - 1st 48 to 72 hours

After Antibiotic treatment: With each meal for 3 to 5 days

DOSAGE: 1/4 oz per 100 pounds of  horses weight. Animals that exceed 500 pounds will not require more than 4 oz per day. Will not harm most animals if over used.
