       What is Aflatrol?

Aflatrol is presently showing a high potential for aflatoxin mycotoxin binding in animal feeds and field studies indicate other benefits from the effects of this product.

It is generally recognized by petfood manufacturers that mycotoxin contamination is a source of increased problems in their industry. Ingredients that are at risk of becoming contaminated are wheat and wheat products , corn and corn products, soybean meal and hulls, barley and oats.

Mycotoxins can develop prior to harvest where their concentration depends on weather and natural conditions, including moisture, temperature, pH and stresses such as drought and associated growth of other fungi and microbes. Grains and feeds can also be contaminated with mycotoxins between harvesting and drying, as well as during storage. Once produced, these toxins cannot be readily extracted from contaminated feed.

The major mycotoxins with potential for contamination of pet foods are aflatoxins,vomitoxin, zearalenone, fumonisins, and ochratoxin A. Three genera of fungi, Aspergillus, Penicillium, and Fusarium (Gibberella), are the most frequently implicated causes of mycotoxin contamination.

Aflatoxins are one of the most potent naturally-occurring carcinogens known to man and have been associated with a variety of health problems in both animals and man. All species appear to be susceptible to this toxin, although susceptibility varies from species to species. The primary target organ for aflatoxins is the liver with liver disease resulting from dogs ingesting aflatoxin-contaminated dog food.

Vomitoxin, known chemically as deoxynivalenol (DON), affects weight gain and appetite in pigs, with 10 ppm resulting in loss of appetite, vomiting and weight loss. It is also known to adversely affect the immune system, although at what levels this would start to occur remains unknown. Little is known about its toxicity in pets. It is known that dogs are susceptible to relatively low levels of vomitoxin and exhibit health problems similar to that seen in swine. Cats, as well as cattle, poultry, and humans, can also be affected.

Zearalenone has been reported to cause clinical signs in poultry, swine and man, but not in dogs or cats. Zearalenone has a chemical structure similar to that of estrogen and causes hyperestrogenism in both laboratory animals and agricultural livestock. Its effects are mainly on the reproductive system. In pigs, it can cause serious reproductive problems, including failure to show heats and reduced sex drive in boars. It can also affect foetal development and the viability of neonates. The intensity of symptoms is dependent on the amount of toxin consumed.

Fumonisins interfere with cell membrane metabolism and the signs of toxicity vary with species. The only studies conducted to demonstrate the effects of fuminosins in pet species has been in rabbits. Ochratoxin A is a nephrotoxin (i.e. toxic to the kidneys) and is also teratogenic (i.e. causes fetal malformation during the first three months of pregnancy) in all species tested. It also impairs the immune system and is a suspected carcinogen.

Aflatrol contains natural highly adsorbent montmorillonite layered silicate mineral clays and humified vegetable carbons with a honey comb pores structure, containing a myriad of substances found in several naturally occurring deposits of minerals produced by metamorphic and sedimentary activities of the earth's geology millions of years ago.

Aflatrol also contains MOS mannan oligosaccharides glucomannans and fructose oligosaccharides, dried lactobacillus acidophilus whey fermentation solubles combined with specific botanical herbal extracts known for their nutraceutical effects in animal feeds.

The ingredients contained in Aflatrol are not affected by high extrusion temperatures or pelleting

The ingredients contain aggregate forming molecules that act as chelating agents which can mobilize nutrients across various tissue membranes, thereby increasing the bio-availability of nutrients, especially minerals within the animals feed. These nutrients are often complexed (tied-tip) by such agents phytates and phosphates etc.

In addition to the benefits associated with the physical dynamics of UT-Alphatrol Premix, it also provides a nutrient-dense source of rare, naturally chelated macro and micro nutrients which are no longer readily supplied by various feed-stuffs due to soil depletion and processing methods.

Benefits and Advantages: Blocking of colonization pathogens

One mode of action for mannan-based oligosaccharides involves interference with colonization of intestinal pathogens. Cell surface carbohydrates are primarily responsible for cell recognition. At the simplest level is the role of carbohydrates in blood types which are differentiated by cell coat sugars. Bacteria have lectins (proteins or glycoproteins) on the cell surface that recognize specific sugars and allow the cell to attach to that sugar. These sugars can be found on the epithelial cell surface. Binding of Salmonella, Escherichia coli and Vibrio cholera has been shown to be mediated by a mannose-specific lectin-like substance on the bacterial cell surface.

Ultra Bio-Lactic The Manager of the Digestive System:

This name is given to Ultra Bio-Lactic because of the way it functions in birds canines felines rodents and the benefits it provides.

Ultra Bio-Lactic is designed to support the microflora system in the animal. It has long been known that many microorganisms exist in pets and these organisms are responsible for birds canines felines rodents health and performance.

Ultra Bio-Lactic supports this activity as a microbial and feed acidifier which improves the overall pets health and nutrition profile.

Why Should You Use Ultra Bio-Lactic instead of Live Lactobacillus Organisms

Ultra Bio-Lactic provides the benefits obtained from live cultures, without the numerous problems and concerns of using live cultures

Ultra Bio-Lactic in its final form is not a source of live organisms. However, it does supply the byproducts they produce; the reason they inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria. The active ingredients in Ultra Bio-Lactic have demonstrated to inhibit the growth of 22 organisms.

One of the ingredients used to produce Ultra Bio-Lactic is whey fermentation solubles containing lactose. During the process, part of the lactose is converted into lactic acid. Lactic acid is commonly used as a feed acidifier.  

Ultra Bio-Lactic contains more than 10% lactic acid. Feed acidification is important because the bacteria in the microflora system, referred to as good or healthy bacteria, tend to prefer a more acid environment; lower pH. We know when pets are diseased, the pH levels are more neutral. Feed acidification is used to maintain a pH level that supports the desirable bacteria.

Pathogenic bacteria, or bad bugs, do not grow as well in a low pH environment. The lactic acid provided in Bio-Lactic is obtained from the fermentation process, and is not an added ingredient  

We have spoken of what Bio-Lactic does. Let's also examine what it provides

A Fermentation Product: Ultra Bio-Lactic is a fermentation product, which means that the nutrients are broken down, or pre-digested. This allows the pet to obtain the nutrients provided without using very much energy.  

10% Lactic Acid: We mentioned lactic acid as a feed acidifier earlier. It is also a source of immediate energy because it does not require additional digestion to be absorbed.  

Low pH: Ultra Bio-Lactic does provide a low pH which is beneficial in controlling pathogenic bacterial growth. Single Cell Protein: 2% of protein provided by Ultra Bio-Lactic is single cell, which is easily utilized by the digestive system. 

Acidolin: During our discussion about the zone of inhibition, we mentioned that this area provided various properties. One of these is acidolin. Acidolin is a natural antimicrobial agent. 

Hydrogen Peroxide: This is another property provided by Ultra Bio-Lactic. It is also a natural antimicrobial agent. Hydrogen peroxide provides assistance in pathogenic control and disease prevention. 

B-Vitamins and Amino Acids: Ultra Bio-Lactic is a source of B-vitamins and amino acids. These come from the fermentation of whey solids. The seeds, and occasionally the roots and stems are utilized. It helps gas evacuation and is also a mild expectorant and a diuretic.

FENUGREEK

One of the oldest medicinal plants used to help in treating anemia, diabetes and weight loss. It is also an excellent tonic and a good hypoglycemia compound.

GINGER

Plant originating from Central Asia. It has been used as a medicinal herb for at least 200 years in the Occident. The root is used to help gas evacuation produced by gastrointestinal fermentation. It is also used as an expectorant, antiemetic (prevents vomiting) and can be used as an antidote to several food toxins.

CLAYS BENTONE

Selected sodium bentonite clays have been shown to be effective mycotoxin inhibitors, binders and sources of numerous micro nutrients. Calcium bentonites also have simular effects to a lessor degree

Lactobacillus Acidophilus Fermentation Solubles

Food preservative and microfloral stimulant. Provides the benefits obtained from live cultures, without the numerous problems and concerns of using live cultures. In its final form is not a source of live organisms, however, it does supply the byproducts they produce; the reason they inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria. The active ingredients in our fermentation solubles have demonstrated to inhibit the growth of 22 organisms.

LICORICE GLYCYRRHIZA GLABRA

Anti-inflammatory, demulcent, diuretic, expectorant, laxative, spasmolytic, also used with other herbs for flavor masking

LINSEED MEAL

Linseed is rich in essential fatty acids. Maintains healthy skin and shiny coat and also tonifies the nervous and digestive systems.

OREGANO

Known to prevent respiratory and digestive spasms.

ROSEMARY

Its essential oils (extracts) are recognized for their antioxidant properties. Rosemary possesses virtues which maintain the optimal state of the liver. Helps to detoxify the cardiovascular and hepatic systems and increases bile productions which favors optimal digestion of fats.

VALERIAN

Natural tranquillizer which helps calm the nervous system, tension (anxiety). It also serves as an expectorant.

YUCCA SCHIDIGERA

Desert plant generally originating from Mexico or South America. Contains steroidal saponins, which improve digestion and dim inish the production of azotes associated to the creation of ammonia, which in turn is responsible for generating strong odors through the excrements. Also recommended for its indicative effects for the goutte, arthritis and arthrosis (joint aches).
